GRC Guides Off The Clock: Two Medicine Falls
”GRC Guides Off the Clock” showcases photos, videos, and stories from the outdoor odysseys of GRC staff as they explore the amazing adventure playground that surrounds their “office”.
TWO MEDICINE FALLS
For the bulk of its run the Two Medicine River wanders through aspen groves and between gorgeous meadows dotted with Fireweed, Indian Paintbrush, and Wild Lupine. It carves through rolling hills on the Rocky Mountain Front creating small canyons and exposing the precambrian bed rock that underpins the east side of Glacier Park. As the Two Medicine approaches East Glacier, MT, just downstream of its intersection with HWY 49, it careens off a twenty foot shelf creating an impressive cataract and an irresistible challenge for intrepid local kayakers.
On June 24th six GRC guides ventured to Two Medicine Falls in search of new scenery and a fresh adrenaline rush. Most made the run in kayaks, while Sam Haverstock and Nick Aschenwald accomplished what are believed to be the first descents of the falls in an Inflatable Kayak and River Board, respectively.
